My Personal Reflection On Micro Teaching - 982 Words

Micro-Teaching Reflection I had the pleasure of completing the Micro-Teaching Project at Morningside Elementary School, alongside my mentor teacher, Ms. Beccy Anderson, in her Kindergarten classroom. In this paper, I will share with you a personal reflection of my experience; the process, the school, the mentor teacher, the students, and the lessons. The Process Beginning the Micro-Teaching Project was a simple task, as I was able to plan ahead. Prior to the semester beginning I spoke with Ms. Beccy Anderson about her providing me with some classroom time to complete my requirements for this course, she enthusiastically accepted. I also ensured that my background check with the Twin Falls School District and Certified Profile was up to date. With all of my ducks in a row I was already for the course to begin. Once Spring semester began and the micro-teaching project was assigned I delivered my letter to Ms. Anderson and we arranged a time for me to complete observation. At this time, we planned when I would complete my lessons, we chose Wednesdays at 2:45pm. In order for her to be aware of what was going to be completed in the classroom, we agreed that I would send her a lesson plan or overview of the lesson the night before I would teach. With Micro-Teaching Project Step One and Two complete, I was all set and ready to go. How do dickens and jacobs use the genre of mystery in the signalman and the monkeys paw? To answer the question, I believe that the authors of The Signalman and The Monkeys Paw use the genres of mystery very well. I am going to explain why I think that in the following essay. The first idea that I am going to look at is the role of fate. We see this take place in both stories, but in slightly different ways. In The Monkeys Paw, we see fate take on a large role, as the story is about a monkeys paw that has been invested with a lot of evil power because an old fakir wanted to teach people not to interfere with fate and its course. In The Monkeys Paw, the paw had been invested with so much power because it had a spell put on it by an old fakir, as this holy man wanted to get a message across to people that they were not to interfere with fate and its course. The Signalman is a story about a man who sees a figure, or a spectre several times, and after the sightings, the next day somebody dies. The suggestion of spectre plays quite a big role in this story, and gives a very effective result. The left arm is across the face, and the right arm is waved, - violently waved. Moreover, the setting of The Monkeys Paw adds to the way Jacobs used the genre of mystery. Without, the night was cold and wet. You could imagine a typical mystery scene, with rain, claps of thunder etc - a effective setting. The atmosphere inside the house was equally successful in grabbing my attention, the fire was burning and the blinds were drawn, and this gives me the idea of being cosy inside when the weather outside is terrible and miserable - an appealing setting. The story is mostly set at night, which adds to the eeriness. Equally, Dickens grabs the readers attention with a disturbing atmosphere. The steep cutting nearly over his head gives me the idea of claustrophobia. The thought of a foreshortened and shadowed figure gives me the sense of a figure that is possessed and not as it seems. If Elizabeth admits to firing Abigail for her affair with Proctor, Danforth will charge Abigail. He approaches the witchcraft trials with a strict link to rules and law that involved any sense of reasonability, for under his legal rite, an accusation of witchery automatically involves a conviction. When Elizabeth say no, sir referring the question being asked by Danforth, Is your husband a lecher! , this is a dramatic moment. Firstly no, sir is very dramatic because it is ironic. John Proctor said before In her life, sir, she have never lied. which is wrong when she said no because that is a lie, that Proctor is not a lecher, not having an affair with Abigail Williams. The second thing which makes the moment dramatic and a crucial moment for the audience, is that no, sir is affecting the audience because it is dramatic irony. Dramatic irony is when the audience understand the implications of words or a situation when the character does not. This is true with Elizabeth, because the audience know that Proctor is a lecher, having an affair with Abigail, but she says no, which is not the right answer. The audience know the answer, but it wasnt said. When Elizabeth said no, sir it all shows a crucial moment to the entire plot because it gives Proctor a bad name to the society, that he is lying about his affair with Abigail. Also, Danforth would of charged Abigail Williams for lying about the witchcraft, and shows that she had and affair with Proctor, and the whole big situation would be ended. This didnt happen, because of Elizabeth saying no, letting the whole story go on.
